The Old Faithful Inn under construction, 1903This amateur photograph was taken by a tourist in 1903. It was with the family's vacation pictures as they toured the first ever National Park Yellowstone. This is the only known picture of the Inn under construction seen in 50 some odd years. If you look to the left of the building site you can see the smoke of Old Faithful rising up from the ground. This image is the blending of the stereo images of which it was originally taken. There are the tools of the tradesman who diligently built the Inn over the winter of 1903 so that it opened in June of 1904 for Summer tourists. The Old Faithful Inn received some renovations in 2004, one of which is the lobby floor being replaced. Bob Berry, in the Fall of 2004 painstakingly removed the c.1930's maple floor, saving it from the landfill. In addition, he managed to save the original oak floor from the recess around the old fireplace which was built over in when the maple floor was installed. The threshold of the Inn, over which many millions have tread, was also saved. Old Faithful Frames, made from this famous lobby floor, are available to house your print of the most famous Inn in the world.
